15 (fun) things to do when you’re sick

Cold season is here and so is the sickness!! And we both had it for weeks.

Being sick is no fun, amen? Lying in bed for HOURS with nothing to do is boring, right? Here is our list of sick-day fun hacks!

Whether you have a chronic illness (comment if you want a post specifically about that in the future) or simply foresee a rainy, down season coming… these ideas might help you stay sane during those long days!

For Thee Who Cannot Brain

Watch FREE clean comedy —

we enjoy some Kid Snippets, select Drybar clips, and Studio C.

Create Pinterest boards —

we like to gather DIY, decorating, and fashion ideas and even pictures that inspire stories in our brains.

Binge read “Thoughts of Dog” —

we found this social media account that is simple, cute coziness every day!

Order people around, set up a kingdom, and drink tea in bed —

we believe this is most mood lol. But seriously, make yourself a pillow/blanket fort.

Get a free trial month of Netflix —

we recently did this and binged BBC victorian drama “North and South” together till midnight, with chocolate cake and milk. 😛

Listen to an audiobook —

we’ve heard that Project Gutenberg is a great free resource.

Paint your nails —

we sure know how lame and miserable being sick can get, and sometimes all you need is a little prettiness boost to stop feeling so nasty.


For Y’all WITH Braining Power

Start writing in a journal or create a bullet journal —

we both journal and Princess M and Pearl are getting into bullet journaling! So much room for creativity!

Play Solitaire, Sudoku, and crossword puzzles —

we know there are game apps for this and all, but for a screen-free option, they sell books of them at the $store.

Watch TED – talks —

we’re homeschool self-study junkies and TED talks cover so many different fascinating topics!

Learn a language with free Duolingo app

we know English and made-up languages. Be cooler than us. XD

Send postcards or notes to friends —

we all love snail mail, right?!! Brighten someone’s day with a special hello. 🙂

Find random words in a book and make them into a sentence —

we think this definitely sounds like a humorous challenge! For an extra challenge, write a short story based on the sentence.

Teach yourself origami from YouTube —

we shall applaud you.

Imagine your perfect bedroom and brainstorm a DIY plan —

we love doing this and have actually redone our bedrooms recently! Use Pinterest for inspiration!

  1. This is awesome! I’ve been getting sick pretty regularly since my job involves working with 10-15 kids twice a week, and one of them always seems to be sick. Most of what I’ve been doing is just catching up on reading, but sometimes that hurts my eyes, so I’ll have to try these out next time I get sick!
