Spring is here!! For some of you, that means waiting hopefully for the ice to melt and the rain to stop. And shivering while trying to wear fashionably spring clothes. 😉 Here are a few ideas I have for you!
(To be honest, this is a funny post for me to write since my state is currently roasting– in MAY! But I have experience from previously living in a really cold state so… 😛 )
I remember getting up really early each Ressurection Sunday morning to drive the hill to the old cemetery, and our tiny church singing hymns and reading scripture and celebrating Christ’s glorious resurrection together.
My favorite part: that moment when the sun broke over the treeline and flooded the world in golden light!
My least favorite part: freezing in my fluttery easter dress, and sometimes even being ankle deep in snow.
While I currently live in a desert state where we’re shaking our heads at how hot it already is, I totally understand the problems of cold weather in spring! 😀
It can be tough to figure out how to enjoy wearing spring style clothes but still stay warm!
Here are a few things I learned. I hope they help and inspire you!
Spring Colors
A lot of times you can simply pack up the darker shades, blacks, and jewel tones of your winter wardrobe, and use only items in a lighter pallet. Viola! You’re in the sandals and florals season!
In my closet that would look like–
My pink and brown hooded flannel for warmth but a spring feel, and this light green bomber jacket that goes with pretty much anything.
Dark colored sweaters no more! This lightweight, white wrap that I just found at a thrift store (good for an extra layer too!), and my absolutely FAVORITE oversized blush-pink sweater!
Switching to lighter washes of denim, including white and pastel colors, definitely gives spring vibes.
Sneaky Layers
There are so many ways to wear more clothes without looking like you’re dressing for the dead-of-winter! Ditch the gigantic coat this spring and go for a more covert way of staying warm. 😉
In my closet this looks like–
My light-wash denim vest over this longsleeved shirt, or layering it over a dress for extra cozy.
Hiding chopped-off leggings under a dress or skirt, or wearing them full-length into cute boots!
Wearing an entire t-shirt under my sweaters– always a win for warmth! (I also do this with my flannel.)
Thanks for reading!
It was fun pretending to know spring fashion rules… XD Were my tips fun/helpful?
Keep warm, smell the flowers, and —
Yo, did you enjoy this? Pin it!
I love this! It actually feels like summer weather here, so I’ve been wearing spring clothes since winter, but I’ll totally remember these for if I have to travel. 😂 Thanks for the amazing tips, Anna!

Ooh great tips Anna! I pretty much wear light wash jeans all summer / spring and dark wash ones in the winter / fall, but I never really thought of mentioning it. XD XD Those jackets are so cute! 🙂

Thanks so much, Hannah!
So cool, you’re just a natural at style. 😉 I honestly hadn’t even thought about denim wash before this spring when I realized that my light, distressed capris looked better for the season. 😛 *hides*

This was so much fun!! I haven’t lived somewhere that cold since I was eight, so it’s something I’ve never seriously considered. But blue jean jackets and knee length leggings? Bring it on!
(Also at our sunrise service in AZ last year before the sun came up we were freezing…we’re such desert birds.)

Hooray for jean jackets and knee-length leggings then!!! 😉
(haha freezing??! A sunrise service sounds extra dreamy in AZ tho since the sunrises/sunsets are so awesome here!!)
