Yo, people!! Just popping in to show you a cool thing we did this week. We modified denim skirts to be cuter + more wearable!
We both had an old denim skirt, so long they dwarfed us, stashed in those creepy corners of our closets.
We never had pulled them out to wear! They were just free hand-me-downs that were taking up room and being useless. 😀 So, we shortened them!
Look at how cute Pearl’s turned out!!
For us people who can’t go and buy a brand-new denim skirt, modifying an old one is a perfect option!
Tip: Find an old skirt from a thrift store or dusty closet. It only needs to fit you on top and be a color/denim-wash you like.

Try on your skirt and make a mark at the length you want it when finished. Then make sure to add in a bit of seam allowance! Make marks (white pencil shows up well!) all the way around the skirt, measuring from the hem up to them to keep it the same length. Cut it around and hem.
Tip: Make sure to pin EVERYTHING, it turns out better. Don’t ask us how we know!! 😛 #pinningequalswinning
Great “new” skirts for free!!
Viola! Anna’s before and after…
You should try looking at the forgotten pieces in your closet and see what new gems you could upcycle them into!
We’re thinking about doing more posts like this (modified t-shirts, anyone?!), so tell us in the comments if that sounds cool!
Oh, and make sure to check out our YouTube. We just posted a #real vlog while taking pics of our finished skirts!
That’s all for now, folks!! And happy spring! 😃🌸🌷
why do we sign off our joint posts with “PerAnna”? find out here!
P.S. have you ever tried modifying clothes? Tell me your success (or epic fail 😛 ) stories!

Yes! More posts on this would be great! Those skirts came out really good.
Happy spring? Not here. We just had six inches of snow fall in the past three days. 😉

Yes!!! I love doing this SO MUCH! I actually have modified clothing a bunch… my favorite victory through that, was turning a plain/ugly thin material gray v-neck sweatshirt (Yes, the v-neck looked AWFUL) into a really cute cardigan I wear literally almost every day now! #Success *Yay!* I’ve also turned old shorts into doll skirts? LOL, but YES please give us more tips on this!!!! ❤️ (I’m a penny-pincher as well, so I love taking old ugly clothes and making them cute rather than buying new stuff, even if it IS from a thrift store! 😉)

Tips on how to make lowcut, short, or sleeveless dresses modest so I can actually wear them! Please and thank you. 😉

Cute!! Love the skirts! I’m trying to think of a time I modified a skirt… my sisters and I used to make our own skirts and dresses a lot of the time, so most of the time we would go, buy material, and then make new skirts. I think I shortened a skirt once a long time ago. XD It turned out fine, but I didn’t wear the skirt that much, because I didn’t really like the style. XD

I haven’t done a whole lot of upcycling clothing myself (except for turning it into doll clothes) but I do have a denim skirt my mom made for me from a pair of weird, bootcut jeans. Your skirts look great!

I’ve literally been doing the same thing over the last few months!! A family friend gave me a bunch of her old jumper dresses and I’ve been altering them to be skirts or into sundresses. 🙂 and then I bought a bunch of t shirts from the boys sections (I like their fit better than girl t shirts) and I’ve been trying different diy stuff on those too lol👍🏽 Love this post! Y’all did an awesome job on those skirts!

This is so cool guys! I love my denim skirts! 🙂 I only like knee length ones though… so I just skip the long ones when at the thrift store. (And then an never able to find one that is not a mini skirt, actually is my size and doesn’t have a large slit…) Now I’ll rethink that move! 🙂 Yes please do a modified t shirt post! I’ve been wanting to do that for awhile too but can’t get the nerve to actually cut one of my T-shirt’s 😂.
